Crisscross

Randy McConnell is a railroad bull (cop) for the Union Pacific and has had his share of death with so much steel meeting the human body in unkind ways. He's not prepared for the series of killings that make headlines and bring in the FBI to investigate. The killer knows the forensic techniques employed and uses it to build a false trail that McConnell's instinct has a hard time buying. Railroad serial killers are difficult to catch because they murder in Dallas one day and play cards in Nashville the next without anyway to track their journey. Through a hobo informant, McConnell chases the killer across five states; but the trail is carefully calculated and scripted by the killer and when you think the story is over, it is just beginning. Is the killing spree for revenge or the fame of writing a book? McConnell dives deep into the sub-culture of railroad life and characters to find the answer and it gets up close and personal in ways he never dreamed of.
