The Boys Next Door: A Marine Returns to Vietnam

A Marine in Vietnam, Robert Tecklenburg returned thirty-five years later to the two villages (Thua Luu and Nouc Ngot in rural Phu Loc District) where he served as a member of a Combined Action Team. Their mission was to defend the villages' inhabitants and conduct pacification and civic action projects while living among them.
It is a story of war, memories, and recovery--about the people he left behind, many of them just children--and the world he found on his return. He looks at how the long war ultimately impacted the country of Vietnam and its people.
