Approach to Freetown” is the first volume of the completed tetralogy LION MOUNTAIN, a story about an adult survivor of abuse, a confused woman who searches for a sense of self-worth. Elizabeth Modra is an American artist from Lansing, Michigan, who finishes her Art Degree in Boston then moves to London with her artist boyfriend, where he becomes jealous of her success and abuses her. Broken and vulnerable yet talented, she falls for journalist Peter Safford at her first showing. He takes her with him on a visit to Sierra Leone, where Elizabeth finds an affinity for the people, and the land gets into her blood. As she focuses on these people who seem so happy, content and good to one another even after the recent, devastating Civil War, she begins to realize she has the power within to make of herself something more than she imagined. Through the four volumes, the abused child within Elizabeth struggles to resolve her issues and searches for ways to make her dreams come true.
