I.G. Petrovskii: Two Volume Set (Classics in Soviet Mathematics , So 2) (Part 1)

This is a set of Petrovskii's selected works. The first volume deals with theory of systems of partial differential equations and is central to the modern general theory of such systems. The classes of elliptic, hyperbolic and parabolic systems are studied here. The second volume deals with his work on algebraic geometry based on the classical works of Harnack and Hilbert written at the close of the 19th century. It contains articles on ordinary and partial differential equations, mathematical physics, probability theory and the theory of functions. Each of the articles is accompanied by the editor's notes. In addition, each article has been studied by modern Russian mathematicians and appears with their commentaries.
