Bioinorganic Chemistry

This collection of seventy essays provides a state-of-the-art report on the current status of bioinorganic chemistry. The papers illustrate the many exciting developments that have occurred recently and indicate in many respects the scope and expectations for the even more significant advances expected in the near future. Among the topics discussed are nucleic acid-metal ion interactions, metals in medicine, biological mineralization, structural and mechanistic studies of metalloproteins and bioinorganic complexes, and electron-transfer processes. The book pays particular attention to developments that can lead to a better understanding of the biological functions of metal ions.
