The Cross-Cultural Learning Process of International Doctoral Students: A Case Study in Library and Information Science Education

A global information revolution in the new millennium has left information & communication professionals searching for systematic, synergetic, & practical approaches to benefit from the all-pervasive effects of internationalization. This book presents one strategy by drawing upon a case study of international doctoral students in a premier library & information science program in the United States, in order to understand their cross-cultural learning experiences, document their perspectives, & discover possible ways to further internationalization. A model of the cross-cultural learning process of international doctoral students is described to improve existing educational policies/procedures & propose holistic interventions that tap into their past cultural knowledge/experiences to further internationalizing efforts in the library and information science program.
