Natural Product Chemistry: Phytochemical Investigation of Ekebergia Capensis (SOMBO)

The emergence of various resistant organisms limited therapeutic efficacy of many of these available drugs. This necessitates discovery of therapeutic agents with novel mechanism of action.The stem bark of Ekebergia capensis is used for the treatment of chronic cough. The wood of this plant is used to facilitate child birth. From the stem bark of Ekebergia capensis, one flavonoid was isolated along with two acyclic triterpenoids. The structural determination was accomplished by means of spectroscopic methods (IR, UV, 1D and 2D) NMR. Hence I hope this book points the natural product chemistry and medicinal plants,which create awareness for Researchers.
