Analysis and Optimization of Transport Processes: and Implementation into a new ERP-System

Financial crisis and increasing global competition drives businesses to re-design their processes and to introduce cost saving methods, to survive in this tough business climate. Hence the need to analyze the business operations is put forth, this study analyzes the transportation process of Freightworks, a freight forwarder based in Dubai, UAE. For this study the transportation process is defined as ‘movements of cargo by road haulage within the UAE’. This paper thoroughly analyses the transportation process focusing on process improvement, cost reduction measures, future strategic planning and suggestions to implement a new ERP-system for logistics.
