It may influence a potential investor's decision on whether or not to invest in a certain company. The International Accounting Standards are the laws by which public listed companies must abide when accounting for their assets; there are however some choices among those regulations. Nonetheless, the idea of a true and fair view of the company is exhorted. Yet there are areas in which the accounting standards come into conflict with true and fair view. This report contains an asset evaluation of the popular holiday resort operator Club Méditerranée. A short review of the industry is provided, as well as an insight into the company, its main areas of business and recent activities. Which standards the company has applied when accounting for its assets is then given, followed by a critical analysis of the asset evaluation from an investor's point of view. Lastly, a conclusion is provided.
