Description
Profenofos [0-4-bromo-2-chlorophenyl -0-ethyl S-propyi phosphorothioate] is a broad spectrum organophosphate insecticide and acaricide. Its main physiological effect is the inhibition of cholinesterase activity in insects. In the present study Profenofos @ 25 mg/kg b.w was administered to the Swiss albino mice for 4 weeks to observe the Profenofos induced hepatotoxicity. Upon this group Cuminum cyminum (Cumin) and Coriandrum sativum (Coriander) were administered for 4 weeks to observe its antidote effect. The study through various paramaters shows that Cumin and Coriander play vital role to combat the Profenofos induced hepatotoxicity thus showing its protective effect.
