Description
The book is all about investigating the forms of washback effects of the first semester EFL final tests on students and teachers. It investigated the washback effects of EFL test on students’ classroom activities and language learning strategies, and teachers’ classroom teaching methodologies. To do this the book made use of interviews, classroom observation, test papers analysis and grade 12 English textbook analysis. Test papers and the text book are examined against test qualities important to achieve positive backwash stated by Hughes (1989) and other scholars in the field. Later in this book one can see that tests have the tendency to affect students’ classroom activities, language learning strategies, and teachers’ classroom methodology negatively. Finally, based on the findings both teachers and students are recommended so that positive washback effect could be attained and facilitate the teaching-learning process in classrooms.
