Mechanical Plaque Control

The primary means of controlling supra-gingival dental plaque is through by mechanical action. The daily disruption of dental plaque appears to be critical in countering the deleterious effects of dental plaque. Optimal oral hygiene requires not only the appropriate motivation and instruction of the patient but also the adequate tools.
