Description

Investigations on population dynamics, varietal screening and chemical control of leaf webber, Cydia critica (Meyrick) of pigeonpea was carried out at Instructional farm, College of Agriculture, Junagadh Agricultural University, Junagadh, during the kharif-rabi season of the year 2008-09. While study on bionomics of C. critica was carried out under the laboratory conditions at Department of Entomology, College of Agriculture, Junagadh Agricultural University, Junagadh, during kharif 2008. The larva formed web by folding the leaf lamina from mid-rib and scarified the lamina, culminating a white patch which results drying of folded leaves. The larva invariably webbed together top leaves of main branches by silken threads. Studies on bionomics of C. critica were carried out under laboratory conditions at an average temperature of 26.50 0C and 83.50 per cent relative humidity. The female moth laid eggs on the both surface of leaves or inner surface of glass gar. The freshly laid eggs were flattened, oval, transparent, dull white and round at both ends.
