Theories on Distributed Feedback Lasers (Laser Science and Technology)

This title presents the theory of distributed feedback, including standard linear theories such as the use of complex Hill equations (solved by coupled-wave theory or Floquet matrices) and novel formulations based on non-Hermitian spin Hamiltonians and group theory, and nonlinear theories involving either the principle of energy conservation or rate equations. Attention is also paid to the improvement of nonlinear theories by the study of solitons in periodic structures.
