Description
The object oriented paradigm has been successfully applied object-oriented programming languages such as Java. These concepts have also been applied with a good measure of success in modeling languages as evidenced by the success of UML. However the application of these concepts at the modeling level, where the models and their elements are themselves considered as objects that can be typified, have subtypes derived from them by means of inheritance or create models and their elements through composition as occurs in object oriented languages has yet to be fully realized. This thesis proposes a modeling framework that is used in the construction of an object-oriented process modeling graphical editor. The modeling framework enables the creation of domain models through the application of object oriented concepts of composition, inheritance and typification at the modeling level. In addition, the modeling framework provides the ability to create user models through the instantiation of these domain models.
