Facts and Figures on the CFP: Basic Data on the Common Fisheries Policy

Total world production from fisheries and aquaculture continues to rise (1 %). The enlarged European Union (EU-27) isthe world's third largest producer, accounting for around 4.4% of this total. Total production in the European Union fisheriessector declined slightly from previous years, as it has for the past 20 years. Within the EU, the biggest producers in termsof volume are Spain and Denmark.
