Description
Social well-being is defined as the condition in which needs and wants of a given population are satisfied. The concept of social well-being is too complex, no-doubt, but it is not difficult to analyze the spatial pattern and spatial level of the well-being, because indicators, called territorial social indicators, are measurable and can be quantified as they comprise hard data. The work has been designed to make an in depth analysis of the pattern of social well-being of Burdwan district of West Bengal, state of India in a more geographical and time perspective with the objective of finding out the various issues and challenges of contemporary social structure of the district. To measure the level and spatial pattern of the well-being of the Burdwan district seven broad parameters e.g. demography, land-use, education, health, income and employment, infrastructural facilities and accident and crime with 61 variables of the broad parameters have been taken and considered for the purpose.
