Thermoluminescence in inorganic crystals: Solution growth of KBr Crystal and its thermoluminescent properties

Recent developments in semiconductor research and technology over the last few years have led to a renewed interest in the growth of single crystals of different solids with improved physical perfection and high purity. Any deviation from the perfect atomic periodicity in a crystal is known as a lattice defect.Lattice defects greatly affect the properties like color ability, diffusion, electrical resistance, the strength of the crystals etc.As a result, the study of crystal defects has assumed a central position in material science. This book provides an understanding of the theoretical and experimental aspects of the growth of single KBr crystal of potassium bromide with solution growth technique.It describes the thermoluminescence properties of KBr crystal and method of calculating the activation energy with the help of glow curves.
