Philosophical Foundation of Education: Educational Philosophy

In this book Philosophies are considered as being systems of interrelated assumptions, consciously or unconsciously embraced, which are as basic and general as to be capable of practice in every area of experience and endeavor. Each of the basic Philosophy is explained first of all, somewhat purely, as a general and all-inclusive point of view. This is done by sketching its history and outlining its systematic structure. This is then followed in each case by a description of the characteristic practices of the branches of Philosophies in these fields of Education and Religion. The resultant picture of Education and Religion is not a portrayal of a distinct Philosophy for each, but rather both are seen as phases of life in which all basic Philosophies are practiced. Similarly, the resultant picture of Philosophy is not a representation of all Philosophy as thought it were a particular Philosophy.
