Description
Organisational transformation is an important ingredient in releasing the beneficial power of IT. However, there is still insufficient understanding of, and no well-developed theory for, IT-enabled organisational transformation. This book addresses the question: what are the antecedents and consequences of IT-enabled organisational transformation? The study employed a multi-method approach, and the overall approach followed that of Van de Ven's model of “engaged scholarshipâ€. The model recommends a staged approach to theory development with knowledge experts, in addition to theory testing. The theory building stage of this book involved comparative case studies of five high transforming firms and five low transforming firms, followed by a focus group with senior IT professionals. The theory testing stages of the study used questionnaires to quantitatively examine the results from the theory building stage.
