Opto-electronic Interface in Multi-Chip Modules (MCM)
Description
Computing power has increased according to Moore's law for the last 30 years. Electrical signaling on buses could not keep pace with the development of the processor industry, and bus speeds have reached their limit. Optical communications is an alternative, but so far, opto-electronic conversion has always been at the periphery of computing systems. Integrating optical communications channels with electronic packaging technology allows to increase communication bandwidth by several orders of magnitude.
