Description
Kukishin Ryu is a sogo bujutsu or comprehensive system of martial arts founded in Japan in the 14th century. This school of martial arts specializes in sword and stick fighting techniques and played a significant role in early naval warfare of feudal Japan. In 1937, Kiba Koshiro, a student of Takamatsu Toshitsugu the 25th Headmaster of Kukishin Ryu, published this book introducing the arts of Kukishin Ryu to the public for the first time with over 100 photographs of bo (6 feet), hanbo (3 feet), and sword techniques plus the bonus of rare pictures of group training and the various teachers at that time. All the pictures are accompanied by step-by-step explanations covering kamae, training drills and techniques plus brief history on the origin of Kukishin Ryu bojutsu. This book is significant not only because it was published before WWII, but this is the period Ueshiba Morihei, the founder of Aikido, apparently studied Kukishin Ryu while in Tokyo
