War in Paradise tells the story of the guerilla movement led by Lucio Cabañas, communist fighter and founder of the Poor People's Party in Guerrero state, and his Justice Brigade during the 1960s and early 1970s. A choir of voices, spatiotemporal games and perspectives are employed to provide a panoramic view of these events. War in Paradise earned Carlos Montemayor the Colima Prize for Narrative and confirmed him as one of the most important Mexican writers of recent decades.
