Description
Please note that the content of this book primarily consists of articles available from Wikipedia or other free sources online. The Bismark Masked Flying Fox (Pteropus capistratus) is a species of bat in the Pteropodidae family found in Papua New Guinea and named after the Bismarck Archipelago. It was originally considered a subspecies of Pteropus temminckii before being reassessed in 2001. Bats are flying mammals in the order Chiroptera . The forelimbs of bats are webbed and developed as wings, making them the only mammals naturally capable of true and sustained flight. By contrast, other mammals said to fly, such as flying squirrels, gliding possums and colugos, glide rather than fly, and can only glide for short distances.
