Guide to the Ajanta Paintings: Narrative Wall Paintings

The wall paintings in the Buddhist cave monasteries of Ajanta (second-first centuries BCE and fifth-sixth centuries CE) convey unique insights into the life of the ancient Indians and their culture. This book presents line drawings of all the narrative paintings together with a short description of each scene. Many scenes are identified and interpreted for the first time in this work.
