Introduction to Sedimentology

This book presents a concise account of all the major branches of sedimentology highlighting the connecting links between them. The text based mostly on the courses taught by the author over the years is designed to cater to the needs of the students at various levels. The first three chapters are written in a style suitable for the undergraduate students of geology. The subsequent chapters are for those at the M.Sc. Level. Research workers on sedimentology will find the exhaustive list of references and numerous illustrations drawn both from Indian and foreign sources useful. The text of the second edition has been updated to include the current developments in sedimentology. A new chapter Structures of Chemical and Biological Origin has been added. The discussions on carbonate sedimentation have been elaborated and the techniques of palaeocurrent analysis have been discussed in some detail.
