Kargil Blunder: Pakistan's Plight, India's Victory

Kargil Blunder of the summer of 1999, is an account of intelligence failure across the board, initial complacency and later on a brave reposte by the army, effective and mature media management and brilliant diplomacy.Like the Sino-Indian war of 1962, this battle has a wake up call for the nation in general and the army in particular which has thrown up several important lessons. There are good reasons to examine the role of senior army leadership, armyureaucratic coordination for better and effective system to procure equipment and revamping the intelligence system so that young lives of soldiers are not lost again.
