Description
The Art & Design Book Press presents the first-ever book published on the works of late Architect Nari Gandhi, who was an apprentice to Frank Lloyd Wright at Taliesin in 1950s. Nari Gandhi continued Wright's legacy in India and through his works explored new frontiers in Organic Architecture. Nari's works are considered by many as the most innovatively designed works built in recent history of Indian Architecture.
Presented in a hardbound format, the book is covered in wood with an engraved title on the front and is elegantly designed to represent the spirit of Nari's work. It features photographs of eight of Nari's built works by well-known photographers Bharat Ramamrutham and Uday Bandiwadekar. The book contains short essays on Nari's life & works and a calligraphed poetry by Canada-based Architect-Poet-Calligrapher, H Masud Taj.
Nari's works manifest serenity. His works are dialogues between the built and the unbuilt, narrating the story of architecture as it emerges from the landscape, exists in harmony with the surroundings and remains deeply rooted in nature. His works are a mélange of structural ingenuity and skilled craftsmanship coalescing into highly imaginative expressions of 'Organic Architecture'.
