Niraba Alapa- a highly commended novel written by Dr. Iti Samanta in Odia language and has got the opportunity for its second edition within a short stint. The protagonist of the novel, Adya, is a blind girl who has got back her eyesight. She had no friend other than the Mahanadi, the biggest river & life line of Odisha state is rightly articulated. The agony and despair of this ill-fated girl is compassioned by the kind hearted other girls who had stood by her. The astute deal with the characters, time and place of the novel is passionately dealt with love & care of the author. She has a fine touch on women psychology and their sacrifices are precisely judged with a view on their dedication for the society. The subtle theme and coherent language of the novel forced the readers to complete the storyline spread over to 152 pages. The essence of the native culture and beliefs has made the narrative free verse a unique one.
