Description

This book deals with the fundamental problems of the dynamics of electrical driving systems, their analysis, synthesis and industrial applications.

The control of electrical drives leads to new control structures and to other areas of control. This is due to stringent operating conditions and widely varying specifications - a drive may alternatively require control of torque, acceleration, speed or position. In recent years the field of electrical drives has experienced rapid expansion caused mainly by the advances in semiconductors. The book intends to characterize the present state of knowledge concerning the dynamics of electrical drives. The method of developing the mathematical models of electromechanical systems is presented. The method is based on Hamilton's principle, state variables equations as well as so called "independent equations". The control of such systems is concerned with the problems of optimization. Some of the more commonly used methods of optimization concerning the d.c. and a.c. drives are described. The criteria based on the statistical principle are described as well.

The last chapter deals with some industrial applications of several structures of driving systems.
