Earthquake Protection of Historical Buildings by Reversible Mixed Technologies. Seismic protection of historical buildings: experimental activity (FP6 PROHITECH project) (Volume 3)

The cultural heritage of the Euro – Mediterranean area in largely exposed to seismic hazard, remaining the risk of several damages due to lack of basic anti-seismic features. The possibility to upgrade them from the structural point of view, could have detrimental effects on their cultural value. Consequently, the improvement of sustainable and reversible methodologies for the protection of existing constructions is a topical development subject. In this context, an important contribution has been given by the activity carried out by the Sixteen academic institutions within the “PROHITECH – Earthquake Protection of Historical Buildings by Reversible Mixed Technologies” European research project.
