This volume is dedicated to the theory and application of computational intelligence techniques for intelligent image processing, data analysis and information retrieval. It consists of 52 accepted research papaers from the 1999 International Conference on Computational Intelligence for Modeling, Control and Automation (CIMA '99). The goal of this conference was to provide a medium for the exchange of ideas between theoreticans and practitioners to address the important issues in computational intelligence for modelling, control and automation.
