Oxygen Radicals and the Disease Process

Oxidative stress induced by the over-production of free radicals and other reactive species is implicated in the pathophysiology of a wide range of human diseases. The evidence implicating oxygen radicals in the etiology of 11 different human diseases or conditions is investigated in this volume. The data supporting this involvement is reviewed and the implications that result are discussed. Topics covered include: Alzheimer's disease; cerebral ischemia; rheumatoid arthritis; inflammatory bowel disease; atherosclerosis; ARDS; critical care medicine; and cancer.
