De Appel: Performances, Installations, Video, Projects 1975 1983

The development and history of this pioneering centre is analysed and documented here in over 450 photographs, film stills and illustrations of work by such artists as diverse as Gina Pane, Ben dArmagnac, Marina Abramovi, Laurie Anderson, Vito Acconci and Laurence Weiner. The publication shows how De Appel gave a new impulse to the countercultural and neo-avant garde movements in the sixties and the international debate about the role of artists in society.
