Investing in Energy Efficiency: The Role of Third Party Financing

Financing energy efficiency investments directly through "energy service companies" or a "third party" can help overcome impediments to otherwise attractive investments. The application of third party financing has come to cover the entire spectrum of energy efficiency projects. Also, these financing arrangements, whereby the financial and operational resources are provided by an entity other than the energy user and the energy savings themselves pay for the investment, have expanded and become more complex. The conference included discussions on a range of related topics including the principles and main actors the importance of contracts sources of financing the role of education and training the role for governments and utilities in promoting alternative financing and the future market for TPF.
