The present edition for the Indian readers, either Indian case studies or Indian adaptation of Western case studies have been included. This edition also covers several culture-specific modifications, addition of recent developments, inclusion of views about abnormality in ancient Indian texts (e.g., the Atharva Veda and Ayurveda) and addition of subsections on Yoga, meditation and their role in the management of psychopathology apart from presenting the incidence and prevalence rate in India of almost all major disorders.
Taken as a whole, this Indian adaptation of Abnormal Psychology provides a good blend of global and indigenous materials in bringing out the complex issues related with abnormality. This adaptation hopes to make out a case for undertaking more researches in abnormal psychology based on indigenous models to bring to light hitherto less known aspects in this important area.
