This book "Essentials of Guidance and Counseling" is intended for the students of Education of B.A., M.A., B.Ed and M.Ed courses. But it is going to be of help .to anyone who is interested or involved in guidance and counseling. I do not claim any originality regarding the content of the book. Discussion of concepts and viewpoints of some distinguished writers in the area are to a great extent ingrained with my thought process. These may lead to doubts regarding some content materials of the book. I have an urge to present the subject matter in the form and style of my own, that I think suitable for the students. I have tried best to write this book in simple language and to give a very systematic presentation of the subject matters.
