Description
Synopsis: The novel For God’s Sake, I’m a Terrorist by Damien Demantra is a story about someone whose is seeking truth, instead he is twisted by a number of individuals who speak in the name of religion. Kemala character is a medical school student who is pretty, young and easily trusts people. In her longing to seek God, she joins a prayer group and is asked to vow her loyalty to an organisation. She experiences trauma and is shocked with the existing bitter truth, Kemala slowly starts to believe the view that the right country is a country based on religious sharia law. She even believes that non-Moslem people’s treatments are heathenish, especially those who originate from western countries. The change in Kemala is the result of mature formulation to thicken her belief. Kemala is then willing to be a terrorist for her twisted belief, and in her understanding, what she is doing is because of God. In a mission, she is then assigned undercover as a dancer to blow up a café named Bistro America. Meanwhile, Prakasa, is a special intelligent handling terrorism, is cold, apathetic, and has never felt love. He is assigned to eradicate terrorism. Prakasa’s team suspects Kemala as a terrorist, that Prakasa goes undercover as the night club customer who will ‘hire’ Kemala. But what happens next is unexpected: they fall in love. They fight within themselves to not like each other, but the force of love continues to badger, till they both must decide between life and death. A choice that has to be made when Kemala who is wrapped with bombs must detonate herself in front of Prakasa, a man she loves. Fortunately Prakasa does the right thing at that critical moment. He shoots Kemala’s hand that the remote detonator is successfully thrown away, and the bomb does not destroy the café. Kemala finally realises that her understanding has been twisted all this time and she has been used for the interest of a certain group of people who speaks in the name of Islam. After serving her punishment in jail, Kemala and Prakasa unite. Kemala is increasingly convinced that Islam is in fact a religion that brings peace to this world.
