Description
This book provides compelling reading and fresh insights for readers who want to explore and maximize their innate creativity. Unlike many current books on the subject, it is written especially for parents and educators. It is a delightful compendium of practical examples of how creative thinking helps you thrive at work, at home and indeed in all areas of life. The author, an internationally recognized researcher in creativity and computer-supported creative work, explains in non-technical language why creativity is the quintessential mind skill for the new century and the digital age of tomorrow. The reader will also find new scientific evidence on the nature of creative thinking, and even discover how some popular notions of creative thinking taught in books and seminars may in fact be inadequate or wrong. The book is filled with remarkable stories for parents, teachers and students, as well as for entrepreneurs and business executives. Dr. Eng-Hock Chia is a computer scientist, writer and speaker. He is currently pioneering new methods in computer-supported creative work. He was invited to organize a roundtable on Creative Thinking and Information Technology at a major computer conference in San Francisco in 1997, and is currently a Visiting Associate Professor at Indiana University-Purdue University, Indianapolis. Dr. Chia holds a Ph.D. from the Australian National University. As partner of a consulting and training firm, A & E Information Systems, he has conducted seminars for educators, trainers and executives from leading public, private and international corporations in Singapore. He is also a reviewer for the journal Computing Reviews, published by the Association for Computing Machinery, New York. He is listed in the Cambridge Dictionary of International Biography, the IFIP Asia Pacific Directory of Information Systems Faculty, the US-based Marquis Who's Who in Science and Engineering, and other reference works.
