Holker Hall: Cark-in-Cartmell, Lancashire, Home of Mr. and Mrs. Hugh Cavendish

This fine English house with its attractive gardens, deer parks and large estates, has been owned by three families since the 16th century. The property has passed by marriage and inheritance (as can bee seen in the family tree inside the front cover of this Guide), as descent went through the female line in 1697 and through a collateral line in 1756.
