Behavior Genetics

The relationship between heredity and behavior has long been a controversial subject in both scientific and non scientific circles. Yet, despite this interest, there is a surprisingly small quantity of scientific literature on the subject. Here at last is a book which offers an objective and comprehensive account of modern scientific endeavor in the field of behavior genetics,. It represents the joint effort of whom have been actively engaged of whom have been actively engaged in intensive research of recent years on heredity and behavior. The book is divided into three parts: (1) An introductory section which sets forth the principles of genetics for the reader with out biological training, and surveys the methods used in the study of behavior genetics. (2) An extensive critical review of the literature in the field which covers both animal and human studies; chapters are included on sensory and perceptual traits, response patterns, intellectual abilities, temperament, and abnormal behavior. (3) A Concluding section in which the authors synthesize current knowledge and develop a new theoretical framework for future research.
