Description
The Playboy Gourmet: Would You Like a Side of Blondes with That?: In 1961, Playboy Magazine came out with The Playboy Gourmet Cookbook, which sold at the time for $12.50 per hardcover copy. Hugh Hefner wrote the introduction himself, stating that "[men must] delight in and insist on the best in food and drink." Some of the recipes from the table of contents include "Charcoalmanship: Cooking on the Outside," "Burgermastery: The Elegant Informality of the Bachelor Patty," and "The Opulent Oyster: Homage to a Bacchanalian Bivalve." Hef, who was thirty-five when the book came out, would place orders from the Playboy Mansion's kitchen for "A BLT with chips, milk, applesauce. And a blond." Culinary trends may have changed in the past 50 years, but it looks like Hef hasn't.
