Japan PC Enterprise End-User Analysis, 2004: Mobile PC Usage Survey

This IDC study compiles the results of the survey on mobile PC use, which targeted mobile users who use portable PC for business. The survey was conducted between June and July 2004. The preliminary survey gathered responses from 3,138 users and the secondary survey gathered responses from 545 users. Based on the responses, this study analyzes the current situation from various perspectives such as time of purchase of mobile PC, how the PC was obtained, specifications, level of satisfaction, usage situation, access to the Internet and company network, and security measures. Data are also analyzed by industry type, work category, and company size.

"The desired weight of mobile PCs is up to 2kg, which means that the future business opportunities can be found in mobile PCs weighing less than 2kg and are equipped with specifications capable of replacing desktop PCs," says Kaori Yamaguchi, analyst, Personal Computing and Digital Imaging, IDC Japan.
