Japan LAN Switch 2003 Brand Shares

This IDC study analyses vendor trends in the Japan LAN switch market based on the actual performance in 2003. The figures provide information on the size of the market and vendor's shares of the port shipment and end-user revenue, based on form factor and layer classification.

"LAN switches have become essential to the construction of networks for enterprises. Price competition is indeed furious and the fall in port unit price is gaining speed. However, IDC believes that the need for reliable network connectivity and increased bandwidth will definitely increase the need for LAN switches. Currently, demanded of LAN switches are intelligence and high speed," notes Junko Yairi, research manager, Japan Communications Group, IDC Japan.
