Worldwide LAN Switch 2005-2009 Forecast

This IDC study forecasts the worldwide LAN switch market over the next five years. 2004 was a strong year, with the market up 13% over 2003. "We expect the growth trend to continue for a few more years," observes Max Flisi, research analyst for the Enterprise Networks program. "Most of this will be driven by sales and adoption of gigabit ports and slowly 10GbE. The impact of emerging economies over the forecast period will also drive market growth. Longer term, however, price erosion and new competitors will slow down that trend."
