McManus announced his resignation on Jun 15, 1993, listing professional and personal grievances as the cause for his departure after nearly 13 years of service. McManus claimed to be uncomfortable with PIMA executive committee's assumption of operational responsibilities and the possibility that the organization would withdraw his right to earn outside income since PIMA does not provide retirement benefits. McManus will open his own Insurance Research Services Ltd consulting firm on Jul 12, 1993.
