From the supplier: Property Claims Services estimates that the four recent storms that hit eight Midwestern states created $655 million of insured property damage. The fourth storm, which occurred between Jul 7 to 16, 1993, is believed to have caused $375 million of the total amount. Government officials estimate that total damage from the natural disaster will surpass $10 billion, the greatest portion of which will be from uninsured, flood-related damage. Insurers are concentrating on ways to alleviate future losses through government assistance programs but do not expect that the disasters will encourage sales of flood insurance.
