From the supplier: The Rowland Animation program at Rowland High School (Rowland Heights, CA) encourages creative and critical-thinking abilities through student development of animated and video products. The program supports development of the six basic skills that renown educator Herbert Kohl believes vital for students to become effective adults. It is also becoming necessary for creative, aware individuals to be media literate, which consists of both understanding the media and being capable of producing it. The interdisciplinary, collaborative and hands-on approach to animation and video production at Rowland implicitly requires students to explore many art forms and technical crafts. The focus of the program is on telling a good story, but students also learn to work cooperatively with each other and the larger community to achieve their goals. The history of the Rowland Animation program and the program's hardware and software are discussed.
