From the supplier: EyeMouse, a specialized mouse device developed by biomedical engineers at the Univ of Iowa, enables physically handicapped individuals to gain complete use of a microcomputer. The system is based on a closed-circuit television camera, two microcomputers and custom software written in Microsoft Macro Assembler. A video signal is sent from the camera to the eye monitor hardware, which reads the eye movements of the user. The hardware resides on two special boards on the AT (ISA) bus of a Zenith Data Systems Z-386/25 microcomputer. EyeMouse input is translated into a conventional mouse signal by a Microsoft Windows 3.0 program. The uniqueness of the design of EyeMouse is that it bases its measurements on the total surface of the iris. The device was designed with three goals in mind: fully automatic operation, ease of use and modifiability.
