From the supplier: An American Medical Association (AMA) report on 'Factors Contributing to the Health Care Cost Problem' attributes 25% of all health care costs to the treatment of preventable illnesses that result from social and lifestyle practices. The AMA reports that $117 billion is spent annually on treating illnesses resulting from tobacco, drug and alcohol usage and from violence. Cigarette smoking ranks as the major preventable cause of death.
